Optimized for classroom and business applications, theVPL-EW255 WXGA Multimedia ProjectorfromSonyfeatures a brightness of 3200 lumens and is able to accommodate screens up to 300" diagonal - depending on ambient light, throw distance, and other factors. Thanks to a 1.6x optical zoom and a 1.40 to 2.27:1, the VPL-EW255 features the flexibility to adapt to a variety of screen sizes and throw distances, making it a good fit for "on the go" users. With an WXGA (1280 x 800) native resolution, which is a 16:10 aspect ratio format, the projector can show HD content in close to its native aspect ratio and works natively with most computer graphics cards. In addition, it can support a range of non-native resolutions and formats, including SD (480p), HD up to 1080p, and computer signals up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA).
To give you the flexibility you need, the projector features an assortment of inputs. For digital and HDTV sources, there is an HDMI port. Two VGA ports provide connectivity for analog devices such as computers, integrated AV systems, and one of the inputs can also accept a component video signal when using a separately available component-to-VGA adapter or cable. There is also a composite video input as well as an S-video input for SD analog video sources. A built-in 16-watt speaker means you can often play out audio directly from the projector, without requiring a separate sound system. In addition to HDMI-embedded audio, there is a stereo RCA audio input shared by the S-video and composite inputs, and there is a 3.5mm mini jack audio input paired with each VGA input. To supplement these, there is a mic input allowing a presenter to take advantage of the built-in speaker.
In addition to the aforementioned audio and video inputs, the VPL-EW255 features USB and Ethernet connectivity. There are two USB ports: a type-B port that allows audio and video playback directly from a computer (cable available separately), and a type-A port that lets you give "PC-less" presentations of various still image formats, plus enables installation of the separately available IFU-WLM3 wireless LAN adapter. With the Ethernet port, multiple projectors can be managed centrally, and it is possible to give remote presentations across a local network.
For local operation, an IR remote is included. In addition, RS-232 enables integration with room control systems such as Crestron.
